L'viv - Lviv - Lvov - L'Volvo - (Part 1)

Hello again. The entries in the blog becomes fewer and fewer. But it does not mean I'm ill nor beeing in jail.

Tourist
Since last blog entry I have been to L'viv (or how the spelling of the town is today :-) as tourist and had it shown to me by Lisa. Lisa assured me that L'viv is a place to visit at least once and remember for ever and if not been there you should go there. So now it's done and I will remember it for ever.

Lisa for curious readers is from Ukraine and was during a period the apartment manager for the flat I had in Kiev. Lisa also speaks Danish but since I don't speak Danish the language spoken had to be English.

Sure thing is that I will not only remember L'viv as town but also the travel to and from Kiev and the travel around L'viv to see fortress and castles.

The rented car
I'm by nature lazy and likes to go by car to tourist places. I also like the freedom a car gives you when beeing away and as in this case it gave the possability to visit the nearby area. For this to be as easy as possible I also rented a GPS for the trip. For some reason the GPS did not have maps over L'vis so the GPS did best in staying away and the glove compartment. Instead my iPhone did a good job of directing us to city of magic.

To L'viv
We went to L'viv direct from airport and we guessed the trip there would take 6-7 hours. I don't remember exactly how long time it took because I had to give the steering wheel to Lisa before reaching L'viv and slept some short period - yes I know I should not have done that (sleeping). She was not into driving in the beginning but after a while it was like she had never done anything else in her life.

You should know that before we arrived darkness had fallen and it's not like driving by night in Sweden were you have sticks on the side of the road with reflecting material. To overtake cars in the night is a challange and if you end up behind some really slow car you want to pass it.

We got to L'viv late and stayed in a small city just outside city called .... (forgot)

L'viv
The first day we decided to do the city L'viv and the day after that we go outside L'viv to the castles.

Pictures from L'viv city. L'viv is for you who visited in Kiev a little more relaxed and loose in the nature. But then I only visited it once. Maybe not that objective. :-)

They have street names in "normal" letters... a good start :-)

Lisa trying to find where we are or where we should have been... The opera house. And not as many high heels in this city - here is an example of traditional L'viv shoe.

Is it just me or do I recognize the three crowns and the lion from some where else... hmmmm
These are pictures from houses.

This is a wall painting from a armenian church in L'viv and this painting along with some other painting was a little scary. Look at the face of the guy in the middle, look at the ghosts carrying candles, what's with the fingers?

It was bad light to take a picture of the other painting but it was even more scary.

This was a very cool house.

L'viv from above

Lisa just goofing around. I'm trying to be serious.
